"Between Cultures"
27 March - 12 May
Alida, Arno, Brian & Deborah
van der Plaat
The exhibition brings together paintings and drawings produced by three generations of the same family. The output of an emigre family who emigrated from the Netherlands to Australia in the 1950s - and settled in Cooma when working as contractors for the Snowy Mountains Scheme - the work produced reflects both the European origins of the family and the new cultures of their Australian home. Incorporating both paintings and drawings (wet and dry media), the worked display includes multiple genres (landscape paintings, still life, and figure drawing) and moves from the visual arts to architectural design.
